With only two years in the business of marketing and just 24 years old, Ashleigh Warren quit her 9-5 to start her own self financed social media marketing business. She profited a little over $400,000 in her first six months as a social media marketer. Now, 27 years old, she continues to grow her business and has generated even more–this is impressive!
Ashleigh manages marketing campaigns for the best in the world!
She has generated over $30 million dollars for various brands on Facebook/Instagram and has built multimillion dollar cosmetic, clothing and lifestyle brands through paid FB/IG ads.
Started from the bottom
Before Ashleigh got into marketing, she was a full-time student, worked at Starbucks 30 hours a week and lived with her parents. She wasn’t always “killing it”. They were still recovering from the recession, so she worked to help out her family and was able to provide a little for herself. Everything was lost in the market crash including their house, cars, and even their dog. At one point they were on food stamps and had to move in with other relatives in a two bedroom apartment just to have a place to stay. Through it all, Ashleigh still managed to receive straight A’s and never gave up hope. She worked hard and was determined to have a better future.
Ashleigh had a job at Starbucks and enjoyed a nice year and a half there. But even as a part-time Shift Supervisor she wanted more out of life. Not knowing what online marketing was, one day after school, Ashleigh said enough was enough and wanted to “go find better”.
Getting acquainted with the business
She started looking for office jobs on Craigslist and was able to find an admin assistant/creative writer role for a marketing company. Ashleigh was offered the job and liked that it was $15 an hour and the business exposure she’d receive. She decided to switch her school schedule and received her degree online so she could work full time.
Ashleigh was an administrative assistant/creative writer for about 4 months and was offered a promotion to become a Media Buyer. This position paid $40k a month with commission. She was able to learn Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest advertising. Ashleigh rapidly became one of the best buyers in the office, and had the numbers to prove it. She worked hard and was still able to maintain straight A’s as a full time student.
Ashleigh was appreciative of the success but realized she was making this company all of this money, working crazy hours, but only to see a small amount of the profits. A few months later she began looking for better opportunities within her field. She found a media buying position that paid over $60k per month with a much higher commission, excellent benefits, unlimited PTO, a wonderful office space, amazing people and pretty much everything you could want working for someone else. She took it.
Seeing her own vision
No one knew at this point that Ashleigh had started looking for her own freelance clients on Craigslist at the same time. She only wanted to do it so because her younger sister was living with her at the time and wanted to move back into a downtown San Diego, but couldn’t afford a two bedroom on one salary. Ashleigh responded to a remote Facebook marketer part-time position days before she had received the new media buying job offer. A Craigslist client reached out to her the SAME DAY she got a call from the media buying company.
Ashleigh decided she was going all in and committed to all of it: full-time online student, a full-time job, provide for her sister. Luckily, she was balancing it all well, taking her sister to school every morning before work and picking her up late at night, getting straight A’s of her own, succeeding at work. Two weeks into Ashleigh’s new full-time job she started searching for another client she could take on personally. She looked through Instagram beauty hashtags for clients as she had previously seen a lot of success with beauty clients at her old job. Ashleigh discovered a small brand she saw a lot of potential in and sent them an email pitch. They signed a commission based contract with her, and within two months she was making $30k+/month just as a freelancer Facebook marketer because their sales were so good.
Ashleigh’s success kept growing, clients kept referring her and she officially didn’t have enough time to work full-time for someone else. She proved to herself that she could work for herself and no longer needed the stability of another company. She took a leap of faith, quit her job, built her freelance business, while simultaneously finishing school with straight A’s.
Ashleigh now resides in Santa Monica, CA, manages a handful of clients monthly, travels the world regularly.
