Van Jefferson, a wide receiver for the Los Angeles Rams, had an amazing Super Bowl Sunday, as his team defeated the Cincinnati Bengals and he welcomed his baby child into the world.
According to The Sporting News, Jefferson talks with his 5-year-old daughter Bella in a video published by Inside the NFL when a Rams official informs him that his wife Samaria gave birth to his second kid, a baby boy.
“Your wife’s giving birth right now,” the staffer told the 25-year-old.
Jefferson stands up and walks away from Bella and an unnamed little boy, his face slightly surprised.
“Oh my gosh,” he says in response before his daughter ask him “Where are you going?”
Jefferson kneels back down to talk to his daughter, telling her “Mommy’s finna have a baby. We gotta go. Mommy’s finna have your brother.”
Samaria went into labor in the middle of the game on Sunday and was carried out on a stretcher. According to The Today Show, she begged that Jefferson not be informed of her health until after the game so that he could remain focused.
Later in the footage, Jefferson can be seen flying out of the stadium on his way to the hospital.
Samaria was having intermittent contractions on Sunday and wanted to show her support for Jefferson.
“Just like any other game, I’m going to be there this Sunday and I’m going to stay calm … and pray to God my water doesn’t break,” she said, according to The Athletic’s Jourdan Rodrigue. “I am 100% going to be there. I would not miss this moment for anything. I will be 40 weeks pregnant at the Super Bowl, supporting my husband 100%.”

According to The Sporting News, Jefferson is a second-year receiver from Florida who finished second on his team with 802 yards and 16 yards per reception.
“He’s a great dad, a great team player, all of the things,” Samaria said. “I don’t know how he does it, but he does it.”
