During this week’s meeting, District Two Councilman Jalen McKee-Rodriguez paid tribute to Minaj.
Nicki Minaj, the queen of rap, is voicing her support for a San Antonio city councilman after he wished her a belated happy birthday during a council meeting last week.
On Wednesday, December 8, Minaj turned 39 years old.
At the meeting, District Two Councilman Jalen McKee-Rodriguez highlighted his Minaj enthusiasm by wearing a shirt in her honor and speaking on the microphone to wish her a happy birthday.
“It was a very special birthday yesterday (Wednesday) for a woman who is important to a lot of people worldwide. She is a mother to not just one but a lot of sons, and unfortunately, she couldn’t be here today. But she is an icon and a queen, the queen of rap. I would like to wish a happy belated birthday to the Nicki Minaj. Thank you,” McKee-Rodriguez said during the session.
Saturday afternoon, Minaj retweeted McKee-message, Rodriguez’s calling him “a true king” and endorsing him to her “Barbz” supporters.
“Barbz must assemble to vote for this great man at every election he’s a part of. Barbz ACTIVATE!!! If you can’t vote in his city, MOVE THERE!” she posted on Twitter.
The councilman responded by retweeting Minaj’s statement. After McKee-original Rodriguez’s post gained over 1,400 retweets and counting, as well as over 6,700 likes, the Twitter conversation is still gathering traction.
McKee-Rodriguez won a runoff election for District 2 earlier this year, defeating incumbent Jada Andrews-Sullivan.
McKee made history earlier this year when he was elected to office in Texas as the first out gay Black man.
