This Voicemail Greeting May Have Prevented A TikToker From Getting A Job

According to the Daily Dot, one TikToker alleges that a voicemail greeting kept her from getting a new job.

Zanaya Jones, who has over 8,000 Instagram followers (as of this writing), is no stranger to sharing personal details about her life. However, in the most recent video, she remembers an event in which she claims she “didn’t get hired” due to her voicemail.

“Yes, Miss Jones, I recommend if you apply for a job and you expect somebody to call you that you have a more appropriate response on your voicemail,” said the prospective employer, according to the TikTok. “So thank you for applying, and no need to give us a call back.”

Jones didn’t reveal the video in issue in the original TikTok, which had more than 12.9 million views, but she eventually gave in to her audience’s demand to hear what the greeting said that had the potential employer so upset.

“Wassup, wassup, wassup,” said Jones in the greeting. “It’s your girl Zanaya… I’m sorry I couldn’t answer the phone. Please leave your name and number, and you know all that.”

Jones’ fans were as surprised as she was by the prospective employer’s alleged reaction to the welcome, and while the details are murky, many believe that there was no foul language or anything out of the ordinary that would cause such a reaction.

“Are you serious? He’s acting as if you’re using a bunch of foul words, it’s literally your personality,” said one user.

Another social media user chimed in with, “That’s your PERSONAL phone. Not everybody has a cell and a work phone.”

After hearing Jones’ voicemail greeting, other users shared their opinions, concluding that she may have just escaped a potentially hazardous work environment.

“You dodged a bullet,” wrote one TikToker. “That guy has 0 personality.”

While Jones has yet to respond to the charges, I believe everyone can agree that if this is the voicemail greeting in question, there may have been other considerations that influenced the potential employer’s decision to hire someone else.
