E was visited by Usher to promote the second leg of his Las Vegas residency, Elvis appeared on Daily Pop. During the conversation, Elvis and Daily Pop correspondent Francesca Amiker played a game based on his 2004 studio album Confessions.
Amiker inquired as to whether there was a celebrity he wished he had the opportunity to date.
“I’ve never told anybody this, but I’m going to give you an exclusive,” Usher said. “Somebody that I was really good friends with that I wish I would have taken more serious because she was a really, really close friend of mine for a small amount of time,” he continued, revealing his dream crush was the late Aaliyah.
“And then we just kind of disconnected,” he added.
Before the sad death of Aaliyah in a plane crash in 2001, the “U Got It Bad” singer expressed his remorse for not dating her.
Usher also revealed that Monica, an R&B singer, was his first celebrity kiss. He said, “She’s a good kisser.”
Usher is now married to Jenn Goicoechea, with whom he has a second child, who was born in September. Usher, who was in command of the music during his wife’s delivery, revealed that 50 Cent’s breakout hip-hop smash “In Da Club” was used to welcome his baby into the world.
Both Usher and 50 Cent called their boys Sire, with Usher saying that 50 Cent was completely on board with the name-sharing.
“Me and 50, we talked about it, and it felt really cool to introduce him to the world saying ‘go shawty it’s ya’ birthday, we’re gonna party like it’s your birthday,” Usher said.
Sire Castrello, daughter Sovereign Bo, 1, son Naviyd Ely, 13, and son Usher V, 14, are Usher’s four children.
Despite his celebrity, Usher claims that his children do not see him as a cool father, despite his efforts to persuade them otherwise. The R&B singer, on the other hand, enjoys the separation from his public life and his family time.
“I get that fortunate ability to create balance between being this dad that I never had and also being able to report back to my day job,” he said, adding, “which is this artistry.”
