As part of a divorce settlement, Dr. Dre agreed to pay his ex-wife $100 million.
According to TMZ, Dre is “delighted” that Nicole Young, his 25-year wife, will not be entitled to half of his wealth. According to the publication, the hip-hop mogul’s net worth is believed to be $820 million.
According to the article, Dre will pay Young $50 million now and another $50 million a year from now.
He intends to keep the family’s many real estate properties in Los Angeles. Malibu, Calabasas, and a $100 million Brentwood estate are among the properties on the market. Dre also retains ownership of his master recordings, stocks, and trademarks, as well as revenues from the sale of Beats by Dre.
Young will also take her opulent jewelry collection, clothing, furs, purses and handbags, her own bank accounts, and four cars — a Rolls Royce, a Range Rover, an Escalade limousine, and a Spyder motorcycle — with her from the marriage.
Truice, 24, and Truly, 20, are her son and daughter from her marriage to Dr. Dre.
Insiders close to Dr. Dre told TMZ that Young might have gotten a greater settlement if she had accepted the arrangement offered to her last year. “She might have even been on the field as a pleasant ex-wife for the Super Bowl halftime show,” the source added, referring to Dre’s planned appearance.
According to rumors, Young fought hard for half of Dre’s fortune but was unsuccessful in challenging their prenuptial agreement.
According to TheGrio, Young has been disputing the validity of their prenuptial agreement since June, saying that the rap producer tore it up after they married as a show of loyalty.
Dre was sentenced to pay $1.5 million in legal fees to Young in September. According to the temporary order’s documentation, the judge explained why the legal fees in this amount are being compensated. Dr. Dre’s ex-wife approached the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department last month for assistance in collecting legal fees she believes the music mogul owes her. Young must pay her own legal bills as part of the agreement, and she is not entitled to spousal assistance.
Breyon Prescott, a music executive, shared a photo of the legendary 56-year-old producer posing happily in front of large balloons reading “DIVORCED AF” earlier this month. Prescott captioned the photo, “Hey Well My Brother @drdre Just told Me It’s Final!!!” Congrats.”
Dre and Young had been involved in a difficult divorce for nearly a year, according to TheGrio. Young claimed in court records that Dr. Dre pushed her out of their home in an alcohol-fueled outburst on April 1, 2020, kicking her out. She also claimed that Dre had abused her in other ways, which he denied.
After suffering a ruptured brain aneurysm in January of this year, the music producer spent more than a week in the intensive care unit at Cedars Sinai Medical Center.
