Jermaine Dupri’s Vegan Ice Cream is Finally Available in Over 700 Walmart Stores

Jermaine Dupri’s vegan ice cream business has reached a huge milestone.

The famed producer announced on Wednesday (Dec. 29) that his dairy-free dessert brand, JD’s Vegan, is now available in over 700 Walmart locations across the country.

“Yes, we did it!!! Yes!” he captioned a photo on Instagram. “I’m ecstatic; we’ve already opened 736 Walmart locations.”

Last month, Dupri announced that he was going into the vegan ice cream market.

JD’s Vegan is his dairy-free frozen dessert line, which includes flavors including Chocolate My Way, Key Lime Pie, Cookies & Cream, and others.

After the introduction, Dupri collaborated with Walmart solely to sell JD’s Vegan online, but the ice cream pints are now available in-store as well.

Dupri told Mashed last month that he started living a vegan lifestyle 16 years ago to feel better.

“I just fell in love with feeling good and feeling healthy and knowing that I’m healthy,” he said. “I want to at least know I’m healthy on a lot of different fronts, and being vegan allows you to be that.”

The 49-year-old also acknowledged the difficulties in finding vegan-friendly sweets, which prompted him to make his own dairy-free ice cream.

“I’m not one of those vegans that are trying to make everybody vegan because I know it’s a lifestyle and it’s something that you have to really get mentally into,” he explained. “… But I can say that hopefully, it will start to sway people to understand. Eat this Key Lime Pie [ice cream]. Although it’s the dessert, it’s a hundred times healthier than you are eating the other dessert that you would probably eat. And that’s all I want people to understand. Give yourself a bit [of] a longer life chance.”
