After one of the babies was delivered at exactly midnight on New Year’s Eve, a set of twins born fifteen minutes apart have birthdays on distinct days, months, and years.
Fatima Madrigal and Robert Trujillo of Greenfield, California, welcomed fraternal twins Alfredo and Aylin at Natividad Medical Center within minutes of each other, although on different days.
Alfredo was born at 11:45 p.m. on December 31, 2021, weighing 6 pounds, 1 ounce, and Aylin was born at midnight on January 1, 2022, weighing 5 pounds, 14 ounces.
Fatima thinks it’s “strange” that her two children have different birthdays, but she’s delighted Aylin was born a day later.
‘It’s crazy to me that they are twins and have different birthdays’, she said in a press release from the medical center. ‘I was surprised and happy that she arrived at midnight.’
Alfredo and Aylin, twins, will soon join their three elder siblings at the family home in Greenfield, Monterey County — two girls and a boy.
Madrigal, a mother of three, said her family was excited to see the twins and that her oldest son was overjoyed that his first sibling will be joining his parents at home.
‘This was definitely one of the most memorable deliveries of my career,’ said Dr. Ana Abril Arias, a family doctor at Natividad Medical Group and faculty at Natividad.
‘It was an absolute pleasure to help these little ones arrive here safely in 2021 and 2022. What an amazing way to start the New Year!’
